We met on September 8, 2001, just three days prior to 9/11. Either one of us expected our first meeting to flourish the way it did. However, it seemed that the world was entering a uncertain time and we both found comfort with each other. Our love steadily grew and we became more certain that it was meant to be. After moving in together during our senior year in college, we have not lived apart since. We are very lucky to have found a best friend with whom we can share our deepest thoughts and feelings with. So after six and a half years of commitment, we have finally decided to make it "official."
On a trip to Florida last May, we has just unpacked our luggage and decided to go to store to buy a few snacks. The cashier has told us that around this time of year, sea turtles will be coming onto the beach to lay their eggs. Sure enough, we when returned to the beach, we noticed sections of the beach were blocked off by caution tape to keep the eggs safe. That night around 11 p.m., we decided to go for a walk on the beach to see if we can spot a turtle. Sure enough after 10 minutes we spotted a trail coming in from the ocean. We followed the trail and found a huge sea turtle digging in the sand. We were both stunned!! Jesse ran back to our room to get the camera and I kept my eyes glued on the turtle. After 15 minutes, the turtle finished laying her eggs and headed back to the ocean. We decided to sit and enjoy the moment before returning to our room. Jesse thought he spotted another turtle and diverted my attention for a minute. When I turned back around, he was on one knee, holding a gorgeous ring and proposed. Out of shock and surprised, I initially said NO!! but then quickly changed my answer.
